We have good news for you. Your dream of owning a luxury home can soon become a reality as Sadiq Khan, London's recently elected mayor, has pledged to make 50% of new homes in London affordable to the majority.
In fact, he has already started identifying suitable sites. One of them is Landmark Court in Southwark. Sadiq believes 120 new builds can easily be accommodated here and intends to fast-track planning and other permissions needed to get construction underway.
If living in Southwark isn't your first choice, don't worry. There will shortly be alternative affordable housing options in the capital, as our Mayor has committed to:
- Begin property development on tracts of land owned by City Hall and Transport for London.
- Fast-track scores of sites ripe for construction.
- Bid to develop attractive houses on other public sector land.
If you would like additional information on affordable housing options or new developments which will be ready in the near future, please give our offices a call.
The Mayor, who wants to see 50 per cent of all new homes in London being genuinely affordable, also plans to bid to develop other public sector land across London.
