It might not be the first time they've crossed the waters to a land of new opportunity, but has the US Embassy's imminent move south of the river from Grosvenor Square to Nine Elms started a trend? Strawberry Star reads with interest that not only will the Dutch Embassy relocate too, but that the Chinese have also expressed interest, with the rise and rise of property rates in central London making this area of regeneration in Wandsworth increasingly attractive.
Having watched progress on the brand new cuboid embassy building, we confess to more than a little optimism for the area's prospects. Less than a mile from the Houses of Parliament, with newly extended Northern Line links, a planned footbridge between Nine Elms and Westminster and diverse new housing options such as our own Sky Gardens apartments on offer, the boost in business, housing and employment opportunities brought about by this move will surely be welcome.
News that the Dutch Embassy is moving to Nine Elms, site of the new US Embassy, has raised the prospect that the development south of the River may become London's newest diplomatic quarter.
