Construction of new homes in the UK remained stable in February 2018 with 11,597 new houses registered to be built.
According to latest data from NHBC, the private sector continued to account for the highest number of new builds in the UK. While 9,124 homes were registered in the private sector during February, approximately 2,473 were from the affordable sector - broadly in line with registration volumes over the previous two months.
Between December and February, 34,811 new homes were registered in the UK. The private sector increased by 1 per cent with 26,707 new homes registered, marginally up on the 26,430 a year ago. However, the affordable sector fell by 18 per cent over the same period (8,104 v 9,845).
London also maintained its lead in new home registrations with 3,913 homes registered to be built between December 2017 and February 2018.
As the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK, NHBC's registration statistics are a lead indicator of the UK’s new homes market. The data shows that UK and London residential markets continue to remain attractive destinations for investors.
